Hotel Belvedere
The Belvedere is an abandoned hotel, but the location is exceptional, due not only to the strange atmosphere of the derelict buildings but also the magnificent view over the sea. It was the perfect place for one more than exciting scene in Game of Thrones. You guessed! It is the battle between Prince Oberyn and The Mountain that occurs in the fourth season of Game of Thrones.
Trsteno
The arboretum at Trsteno, the oldest Renaissance garden in Dalmatia, is a wonderful place to visit in its own right, but it also appears as the backdrop for several scenes in Game of Thrones. Many secrets are told there: the first time is in Season 3 when Margaery and Sana Stark meet each other and are introduced to Olenna Tyrell.
Trsteno is about 20 kms to the north-west of Dubrovnik on the coast. There are two magnificent plane trees, said to be over 500 years old. It was the here that the aristocratic ship-owning Gučetić-Gozze family had their summer residence. Their captains were ordered to bring fertile soil to Trsteno, when returning in ballast from trading voyages, to create the gardens, and later to bring back seeds and plants from the exotic places they visited. Over the years it became established as a beautiful garden with hundreds of exotic plants in its 25 hectares. Since 1950 it has been under HAZU, the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, and has survived the many vicissitudes of history to offer its attractions to visitors today
